Warner Bros. announces DC FanDome 24-hour global virtual event

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Warner Bros. and DC Comics is setting up an unprecedented global event that is bound to excite any DC fan and you can enjoy the whole experience from the privacy of your own home.

DC FanDome will be a 24-hour global event that will feature the largest gathering of talent announcements and content reveals in the history of DC. The event takes place on August 22, 2020 at 10am PDT and will be accessible around the world for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com. Also, did I mention that it's free and no badge is required?

The goal of the event is to immerse fans in the DC Multiverse by revealing new content and announcements from WB Games, Film, TV and Comics as well as give you the pretty cool opportunity to hear from the cast and creators behind your favorite DC feature films and TV series. Some of these fan favorites include AQUAMAN, THE BATMAN, Batwoman, Black Lightning, DC's Stargirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, SHAZAM!, THE SUICIDE SQUAD, THE SNYDER CUT, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Teen Titans GO!, Harley Quinn, Lucifer, Pennyworth, Doom Patrol, The Flash, BLACK ADAM, Young Justice: Outsiders, Titans, Watchmen and WONDER WOMAN 1984.

All of the content featured during the event will virtually be housed in 6 different, fully programmed areas inside the virtual DC FanDome. "Hall of Heroes" will be the Main Hall which features special programming, panels and content reveals from a wide variety of films, TV series and games, available in several languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. From the "Hall of Heroes" you can venture into the "DC WatchVerse" where you can join the virtual audience and become completely engrossed in hours of must-see content from around the world. Everything from panels and exclusive screenings to never-before-seen footage, featuring cast, creators and behind-the-scenes crew from across DC Films, TV, Home Entertainment and Games. You can take center stage in the "DC YouVerse" where you can see the most amazing user-generated content, cosplay and fan art from around the world, including, perhaps, your own. Worried about entertaining the kids? The "DC KidVerse" has you covered with a broad range of family-friendly activations for the younger generation of DC fans. The "DC InsiderVerse" is a creativity-based world that contains a centerpiece video featuring legendary artist and DC CCO/Publisher Jim Lee, President of DC-Based Film Production Walter Hamada, and creator of the DC TV Arrowverse, Executive Producer Greg Berlanti, welcoming fans with a 101-style introduction to the DC Multiverse. From there, go behind the scenes with the master artisans who bring DC to life in all its forms, from comic books to games, TV, movies, theme parks, consumer products and more. Lastly, you can spend some time in the "DC FunVerse" where you can take your DC FanDome experience and gather cool shareables and get involved with some fun digital giveaways and a store filled with merchandise, including some limited-edition exclusives.

This is an event that is all about the fans and you're being called upon to showcase your best DC Fan Art & Fandom displays. This is also a great opportunity to show of your best cosplay, makeup, tattoos and any other DC inspired art that could be featured inside this virtual world event, and demonstrate to people in your home country and across the globe that you are the ultimate DC Super Fan. Selected artists on the day of the event will be voted on by the community in each of the two competitions in order to help the judges pick selected artist winners. Selected artist winners will receive part of a cash prize pool courtesy of DC and Talenthouse, who is partnering with the comic giant on the event. You can submit your submissions by heading to create.DCFanDome.com.

Considering the potential scale of the event, it makes more sense that Warner Bros. and DC are reportedly opting out of participating in the San Diego Comic-Con At Home virtual event that is taking place in July. They also likely want any big news or exclusives to launch at their event exclusively. This event is bound to draw fans from all over the world that are hoping to hear big DC news and possibly get their hands on some exclusive limited edition merchandise. Ann Sarnoff, Chair and Chief Executive Officer, Warner Bros, had this to say about bringing this unprecedented event to life for the fans:

"There is no fan like a DC fan. For more than 85 years, the world has turned to DC’s inspiring heroes and stories to lift us up and entertain us, and this massive, immersive digital event will give everyone new ways to personalize their journey through the DC Universe without lines, without tickets and without boundaries. With DC FanDome, we’re able to give fans from around the world an exciting and unparalleled way to connect with all their favorite DC characters, as well as the incredible talent who bring them to life on the page and screen."
