I hope that everyone aboard the USS Enterprise-D has settled their tab, because there's a chance that Guinan, the bartender of the Ten-Forward lounge could be coming back to the Star Trek universe.

During a live taping of Wednesday's episode of The View, STAR TREK: PICARD actor Sir Patrick Stewart surprised the talk show's moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, by extending an invitation for her to join the second season cast of the new Star Trek spinoff series. Previously, Goldberg had starred as Guinan for 28 episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation between 1988 and 1993.

“I’m here with a formal invitation, and it’s for you, Whoopi,” Stewart announced to an unsuspecting Goldberg during his time on the popular talk show. "Alex Kurtzman, who is the senior executive producer of Star Trek: Picard, and all his colleagues, of which I am one, want to invite you into the second season.”

Upon receiving the invitation, Goldberg, whose acting credits include knock out performances in films such as THE COLOR PURPLE, SISTER ACT, and GHOST, appeared genuinely shocked at being offered the gig. After taking a moment to catch her breath, Goldberg and Stewart celebrated the moment with a firm embrace. Shortly thereafter, Goldberg said that "Yes," she'd love to participate in the filming of STAR TREK: PICARD's sophomore season.

“I’ve said this on the show before, but Star Trek was one of the great experiences, from the beginning to the end,” Goldberg said, trying her best to hold back a torrent of happy tears. “I had the best, best, best time ever.”

Stewart then capped the emotional moment off by adding "it was wonderful," with regard to working with Goldberg on the original series. "Can't wait to have you with us again one more time."

Once the set of The View was all abuzz with excitement for Goldberg's return to the franchise, the panel began asking Stewart for details about his approach to reintroducing his iconic character for modern day audiences.

“It’s easy…. Picard has aged 18 years, fictionally, and Patrick Stewart has aged 18 years actually. And I don’t have to work at it because it’s just me, it’s who I am now!” Stewart said with a light chuckle. “We have such a team of writers on this show, it’s astonishing, and I wanted to show that Picard’s world had changed because Patrick’s world has certainly changed, and we are no longer now living in the same kind of society we lived in 18 years ago.”

What say you, Trekkies? Are you down to share a drink with Guinan once more for old times' sake? Do you have a favorite Star Trek-related alcoholic beverage? Personally, I wouldn't mind tasting a dram of Aldebaran whiskey. I've heard that it's an "acquired taste," but I've yet to meet too many whiskey-based drinks that I've not enjoyed.
