Will Sam Mendes commit to making another Bond?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Can we all agree that Sam Mendes did a great job with SKYFALL? His addition to the Bond catalogue has brought the character to so many new fans who have found a new love for 007.

With the success of the film, is Mendes likely to sign on for another installment? According to Baz Bamigboye of The Daily Mail, there’s a 75% chance of it happening. So you’re saying there’s a chance? YES! Early on, Mendes was reluctant to do a sequel because it was originally commissioned to be a two part story with the films being shot back to back which would take a four year commitment. Now with that idea abandoned, it’s opened the director up to seriously think about taking on helming duties again.

Right now, screenwriter John Logan has a two treatments with a rough outline of the plot. Mendes is awaiting a finished script before going all in.

Even if he does jump on board, it will be a bit before they can start filming. Mendes is currently directing King Lear, and is also putting together a musical version of Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory which opens on May 18th. It’s possible that production on BOND 24 could begin later this year, or early 2014.

I adore Mendes so I hope he does decide to get involved with this again.
