Will the final episodes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. share a connection with the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

I’ve noticed that despite the not-so-glowing reviews of AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D that many of you are still sticking around. There’s always two or three people in my Facebook feed that after each show who say, “I’ll stick around a little longer to see if it picks up.” My hopes for this show were never out of this world. I caught a few episodes and it didn’t work for me unfortunately. As much as I love Joss Whedon and Clark Gregg, it’s all just kind of bland.

If you are still watching and waiting for that moment when things get more exciting then that day might be coming very shortly. The rumor according to inside sources close to Comicbook.com is that the the last episodes of the first season will, “tease and set up the S.H.I.E.L.D. of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

The site elaborated on the tip-off:

We took that to mean that there will be a different S.H.I.E.L.D. going into the film–a somewhat more fractured S.H.I.E.L.D., not completely at ease with itself, as we’ve heard rumors of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Robert Redford’s Alexander Pierce essentially vying for power within the organization. Our source declined to confirm or deny that speculation.

We’ve always known that the Marvel cinematic universe would affect the AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. series even if we weren’t promised any major cameos. I for one welcome any Coulson-Cap giddiness. Perhaps the show will pick up after this. It will definitely make for more interesting moments within the organization.
