MPAA ratings dished out for Silent Hill 2, Resident Evil 5 and The Factory

The latest batch of MPAA ratings will bring a smile to the faces of horror purists, as all three are rocking Rs. Predictable, yes, considering the titles, but still good news for those of us who are sick of bitching about that dastardly PG-13.

RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION has been given its rating for sequences of strong violence throughout. Nothing else; I suppose that’s enough. The Screen Gems flick will open on SEPTEMBER 14th.

Meanwhile, SILENT HILL: REVELATION has not been watered down, owning an R for violence and disturbing images, some language and brief nudity. That little ditty hits theaters just in time for Halloween, on OCTOBER 26th.

Lastly, we have an R rating for the serial killer drama THE FACTORY. You’ll be excused if you don’t remember THE FACTORY; it’s the Dark Castle production starring John Cusack that’s been in the can for three years now. The film doesn’t have a release date yet, but it earns its R thanks to strong violence including disturbing images, language throughout and sexual material. I fully expect THE FACTORY to be sent straight to disc/VOD whenever Warner Bros. is ready to just let it go.
