Any of you guys catch MULBERRY STREET? If not, please do so. It was a highly surprising, well-crafted twist on the typical “zombie genre”. Very intense and even somewhat believable. The reason why I asked the question above is because that flick’s director, Jim Mickle (top right), and writer/star, Nick Damici (top left), are teaming up again for another horror-inspired subgenre: Vampires!
The movie is called STAKE LAND (nice title!) and all we know for certain as of now is that it will involve bloodsuckers, it will be produced by Glass Eye Pix, and basically, the entire cast and crew from MULBERRY STREET will be back for it. That sounds like good news to me. MULBERRY had such an authentically gritty, New York feel that really sucked me in. This is one talented band of independent filmmakers and I’d be happy to check out another of their offerings.
As for STAKE’s big-screen chances, Glass Eye’s Larry Fessenden says that they will soon be ”shopping it around.” Considering the talent he’s got working on it, I’m betting this will be one short shopping trip.
