Rob Cohen is being pretty good about updating his Mummy 3 blog – as he’s already added two entries since I first wrote about it. He’s also tossed up the first pic from the flick – actually it’s just kind’ve a glimpse at the “Mausoleum set” – but it’s cool nonetheless.
Perhaps most interesting is that Cohen goes into a long explanation as to why Rachel Weisz chose not to return to the franchise that pretty much put her on the map. Actually, he doesn’t really give a reason as much as a diatribe into the mindset of an actor. It’s strange.
I look at it this way – I’m a big Maria Bello fan, so I’m truly not opposed to her taking over the role Weisz left behind. I am not, however, a Rob Cohen fan, and that’s why my interest in this project is fairly low. (Also doesn’t help that the second movie was a complete mess, in my opinion.)
