THE RING fansite The Ringworld posted an awesome, and extensive interview with THE RING TWO director Hideo Nakata, as a build-up for TWO’s release.
Being a fan of the original RINGU, I’m so excited for THE RING TWO that even when I think about the trailer I get goosebumps! Dreamworks must have done something right in order to get Nakata on board. Here’s a little peak at what he had to say about making a movie in America vs. Japan:
“Whenever I make horror movies, I do my best to make them look scary and frightening to a universal audience. This time of course, The Ring Two is going to be released initially in the US, so I was very conscious of what would be the most frightening things for an American audience. When I make Japanese movies I think about the Japanese audience first, but here I have to think about the reaction of an American audience. I’m kind of confident how the American audience will react, and I hope the Japanese audience’s reaction will be very good as well. But there will be some, you know, slight differences [in style].”
Good shite! Considering how absolutely terrifying RINGU was for me, there’s no doubt in my mind that TWO is going to have people pissin’ their pants with fright when the film comes out March 18th.
