Tom Hardy's VENOM sequel has tapped MOONLIGHT and SKYFALL actress Naomie Harris to star as the villain Shriek for the Andy Serkis-directed follow-up to Ruben Fleischer's 2018 box office smash. Word of Harris being in talks for the role recently hit the web, and fans are already climbing the walls in anticipation of her slithering onto the symbiotic scene.
Frances Barrison, aka Shriek, made her first appearance in the pages of Spider-Man Unlimited #1 (circa May, 1993). According to MarvelFandom.com: During her childhood, Frances was abused by her mother for being overweight, driving her to drugs and leading to her later fixation on becoming a mother herself. She became a drug dealer, which exposed her to situations that ultimately damaged her sanity; namely, being shot in the head by a police officer, and being put in Cloak's Darkforce Dimension, which awakened Shriek's latent mutant abilities. Armed with lethal sonic powers, Shriek has served as something of a love interest for Carnage, one of Eddie Brock and Venom's most dangerous adversaries.
Set to direct Marvel and Sony's VENOM sequel is motion-capture master Andy Serkis, who's called for Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson to return for more symbiote shenanigans. Williams will be reprising her role as Anne Weying, while Harrelson is set to again star as Cletus Kasady, the psychotic serial killer who bonds with the Carnage symbiote.
Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, Amy Pascal, and Hutch Parker are poised to produce VENOM 2 for Sony, with Kelly Marcel set to pen the script.
