The day before the dreaded Valentine’s Day. I bet a lot of guys out there are dreading this coming weekend. I hear you fellas. What would cheer you up guys? How about some news on an international zombie movie heading our way? Aww did I just see a smile?

Now if current history tells us anything it’s that anywhere but the US knows how to make excellent horror, with a few exceptions of course. So it’s my pleasure today to bring you news on another genre film heading our way from across the seas. The flick is called PERROS MUERTOS, which translates to DEAD DOGS, and is coming from Nava Entertainment in Spain. Ready for the details?

PERROS MUERTOS follows a petty criminal, Cocacolo, pulling a Barcelona bank job and fleeing south, just as a family leaves Northern Spain for holidays. The motley group join together in the Spanish countryside to battle a zombie outbreak sparked by the locals’ consumption of adulterated rapeseed oil. Nava Entertainment have already pegged director Koldo Serra with the task of bringing us PERROS MUERTOS. You probably don’t recognize Serra’s (above right) name but he’s the dude that brought us the Gary Oldman starring flick THE BACKWOODS. Recognize his name now? Alright you probably still don’t but let’s roll with it.

Now before you sentence PERROS MUERTOS let me give you a little more backstory here. Nava Entertainment’s Antonia Nava seems to know a thing or two, having produced flicks like Brad Anderson’s THE MACHINIST and TRANSSIBERIAN as well as Serra’s BACKWOODS and Jaume Balaguero’s FRAGILE. Not bad right? Nava has gone ahead and stated that she plans on stocking MUERTOS with a cast of young Spanish TV stars as well as adding: “Films which are good and ‘genuine’ sell well internationally.” Well that’s true…

PERROS MUERTOS is set to start shooting in October from a script by Serra and Carlos Garcia Miranda with an estimated budget of $4.8 million. That’s all we’ve got. PERROS MUERTOS have enough going for it to score your interest? Spit some bullets below and let us know what you’re thinking while we await more on Koldo Serra’s PERROS MUERTOS!
