Neill and Dern reunite with old friends on set of Jurassic World: Dominion

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Yesterday, Sam Neill took to social media to share a picture from the set of JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION that celebrated a reunion with an "old friend". That friend being the hat he wears as his JURASSIC PARK franchise character Alan Grant. Hours later, co-star Laura Dern followed his lead and shared her own picture from the JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION set, using the same caption Neill used: "Hello, old friend." In Dern's case, the old friend is Neill/Grant, as her picture shows his chair placed right next to the chair she'll be sitting in between shooting scenes as her JURASSIC PARK character Ellie Sattler.

Neill and Dern previously played Grant and Sattler in the original JURASSIC PARK in 1993 and reprised their roles for 2001's JURASSIC PARK III. JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION brings them back into the franchise for the first time since '01.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay he wrote with Emily Carmichael (based on an idea Trevorrow crafted with his JURASSIC WORLD and JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM co-writer Derek Connolly), JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION also stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, Dichen Lachman, and Campbell Scott.

Production on the new film was shut down for a few months due to the pandemic, but everyone's back at work now. It remains to be seen if it will be able to keep its June 11, 2021 release date, though.

A collaboration between Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, DOMINION is being executive produced by Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg, with Frank Marshall producing alongside Pat Crowley. Sara Scott, senior vice president of production at Universal, is overseeing the project for the studio.

We don't have a plot synopsis for this one yet, but it will be dealing with the fact that FALLEN KINGDOM set dinosaurs loose into the California countryside. Trevorrow recently made a short film called BATTLE AT BIG ROCK that bridges the gap between FALLEN KINGDOM and DOMINION.
