It was revealed just last week that Jake Gyllenhaal would be reuniting with Antoine Fuqua for a remake of Gustav Moller's THE GUILTY, and it was announced today that the project has found a home with Netflix. Deadline has reported that the streaming service have dropped $30 million to acquire the worldwide rights to THE GUILTY, which is slated to kick off production later this year.

THE GUILTY takes place over the course of a single morning at a 911 dispatch call center and follows Joe Bayler (Gyllenhaal) as he tries to save a caller in grave danger, only to discover that nothing is as it seems and facing the truth is the only way out. Antoine Fuqua will helm the film which has been scripted by True Detective's Nic Pizzolatto. "I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again," said Gyllenhaal in a statement. "Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to." As the actor mentioned, he previously worked with Antoine Fuqua on SOUTHPAW, a sports drama that followed a champion boxer who fights to revive his career and get his daughter back from child protective services after a tragic accident. THE GUILTY's co-writer/director Gustav Möller and producer Lina Flint have also come onboard as executive producers, with Flint saying "We are super excited about this collaboration and we look very much forward to continue the amazing journey with ‘The Guilty.'"
