Netflix’s Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock lands new trailer

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

New trailers seem to be a thing today as we have already shared with you guys the official trailer for CAPTIVE STATE and now we have the new trailer for Netflix's BIRD BOX starring Sandra Bullock. You can check it out below!

This film has an interesting history in that Andy Muschietti was at one point attached to direct screenwriter Eric Heisserer's (ARRIVAL) adaptation of Josh Malerman's 2014 novel. But after a while, he moved onto STEPHEN KING'S IT and Susanne Bier took over. Bier is best known for her films such as BROTHER, AFTER THE WEDDING, the Academy Award-winning IN A BETTER WORLD, and the TV miniseries THE NIGHT MANAGER. And she holds the distinction of being the first female director to win a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, an Emmy Award, and a European Film Award.

Anyhow, the film comes with some pedigree – and I haven't even mentioned the supporting cast, which includes Sarah Paulson yet. I'm personally looking forward to checking it out when it hits Netflix later this month, and if you are too, then today's new trailer is worth the 3 minutes out of your day. It's pretty badass.

The post-apocalyptic horror film is directed by Bier from a screenplay written by Heisserer. It begins:

When a mysterious force decimates the population, only one thing is certain — if you see it, you die. The survivors must now avoid coming face to face with an entity that takes the form of their worst fears. Searching for hope and a new beginning, a woman and her children embark on a dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they'll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them — and complete the trip blindfolded.

Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Rosa Salazar, Danielle Macdonald, Lil Rel Howery, Tom Hollander, BD Wong, Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich also star. The film had its world premiere at AFI Fest on November 12, 2018, and is scheduled to be released on Netflix December 21, 2018.
