Netflix’s Bright 2 still in development

Netflix's upcoming BRIGHT sequel BRIGHT 2 is all set to see original stars Joel Edgerton and Will Smith return along with director David Ayer. And today Ayer let us all know that the film is still in development over at the streaming giant.

Ayer says:

[It's] still in development. We’re working on it so hopefully, we’ll be able to mount that up soon. It’s a great opportunity for all of us to explore the world more. I think people felt like there were a lot of doorways to explore. People were like, ‘Tell us about the dragon. Tell us about this, the history.’ So it’s a very rich world and I think we’re going to drill down some more.

Personally, I didn't hate Netflix's BRIGHT as much as some people out there. In fact, I thought the film was commendable for its use of real locations and action sequences with very little in the way of full-blown CGI meltdowns. Plus, I thought Joel Edgerton was a delight from beginning to end.

Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless are returning as producers for the new film. The original movie took place in:

An alternate present day where humans, orcs, elves and fairies have been coexisting since the beginning of time. Two police officers, one a human, the other an orc, embark on a routine night patrol that alters the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a young female elf and a thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which, in the wrong hands, could destroy everything.

BRIGHT screenwriter Max Landis has been replaced with Evan Spiliotopoulos (BEAUTY AND THE BEAST). We will make sure to keep you guys up to date on the sequel as production progresses so stay tuned! BRIGHT is now streaming on Netflix HERE.
