Holy shnykies, my fellow horror hounds! Could it be that the piece of crap, horror-for-pussies TWILIGHT has actually brought about something positive?! Could be so! Apparently, vampires are now the latest craze, which has now led to speculation that a new BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER movie is in the works!
The news was stated in the Herald-Sun, an Australian newspaper. Here is precisely what was written: The monster success of girly vampire pic Twilight at the US Box office last weekend could kick open the door for a big-screen return of Joss Whedon’s much-loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Rumours are circulating in Hollywood that Whedon has a feature-film script based on his hit TV series ready to roll as soon as a studio is prepared to commit. The Buffy concept was first unveiled as a movie in 1992 with long-forgotten Kristy Swanson in the title role.
Of course I wonder how possible something like this could be. However, the news is coming from a legitimate source and I know that Mr. Whedon is still very much in love with his BUFFY creation. Who’s to say that it wouldn’t happen? The real question is, how much of the TV show’s cast would be considered to return?
I’ve always been a huge fan of the show (the movie was just okay), so I’d definitely welcome a brand new big screen version. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for any further developments.
