New trailer from the X-Men-adjacent horror film The New Mutants!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

THE NEW MUTANTS has had a long and sordid history getting to the big screen (which, technically, it still hasn't done). But after fears that Disney would bury it after their Fox acquisition, or that they'd simply dump it unceremoniously on Disney+, it's heartening to see that they're still going through with a theatrical release (for now, at least). They're even going to have a stay-at-home Comic Con panel with the cast and crew July 23rd!

They've also released a new TV spot that you can check out at the top of the article. Here's the official synopsis:

An original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive.

Honestly, I think it looks great! This definitely focuses more on the action than previous trailers, but also doesn't shy away from the horror imagery, which is nice. Hopefully the film itself is able to balance those two tones well, as it really isn't something we've seen before (at least on screen).

Meanwhile, THE NEW MUTANTS – directed by Josh Boone and starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, and Antonio Banderas – is still scheduled to be released in theaters August 28th…but we'll keep you updated if that date moves or not.

So, what do you guy think? Looking forward to THE MUTANTS? If so, what did you think of the new clip? Either way, sound off below!
