New clips and images from Oliver Stone’s Savages reveal some scene-chewing goodness

Oliver Stone’s SAVAGES is just around the corner and today we’ve got a ton of stuff to share.  First up is six new clips from the film, each of which highlights different character interactions.  Then, we have a nice heap of new images from the flick, which stars Taylor Kitsch, Aaron Johnson, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, and John Travolta.

The clips are really cool and give us a solid tease on some scene-chewing tit-for-tat with all the various characters in the film.  With Oliver Stone at the helm and screenwriter Shane Salerno adapting the book by Don Winslow, I expect no less.

SAVAGES has the potential to be a breakout hit this summer, assuming it delivers the goods, and I’m really holding out hope for it.  I want this movie to rock my world and will be very disappointed if it isn’t a total blast as it has all the ingredients to be a kick ass film.  There’s really no excuse for it not to be.  Either way, it’ll be getting my money for the 4th of July weekend over it’s web-slinging competition.

Here’s the clips:

Oh, and here’s a synopsis to top it off:

Laguna Beach entrepreneurs Ben (Johnson), a peaceful and charitable Buddhist, and his closest friend Chon (Kitsch), a former Navy SEAL and ex-mercenary, run a lucrative, homegrown industry—raising some of the best marijuana ever developed.  They also share a one-of-a-kind love with the extraordinary beauty Ophelia (Lively).  Life is idyllic in their Southern California town…until the Mexican Baja Cartel decides to move in and demands that the trio partners with them.

When the merciless head of the BC, Elena (Hayek), and her brutal enforcer, Lado (Del Toro), underestimate the unbreakable bond among these three friends, Ben and Chon—with the reluctant, slippery assistance of a dirty DEA agent (Travolta)—wage a seemingly unwinnable war against the cartel.  And so begins a series of increasingly vicious ploys and maneuvers in a high stakes, savage battle of wills.

SAVAGES opens on July 6, 2012.
