New “conspiracy” featurette for Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Those familiar with the source material for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER know that "conspiracy" is certainly a driving factor in the tale that brings back a ghost from Steve Rogers' past and it appears that the film is following suit in an even bigger way, which was the intent from the start. Director's Joe and Anthony Russo have long touted that part of their aim was to make an ode to the spy thrillers of the '70's like THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR with the Captain America sequel and in this new featurette for the film we take a look at that theme and how it is integrated into the film.

Take a look:

The first Cap film, CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, was a perfect nod to the classic tale of Steve Rogers and built a great foundation for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Joe Johnston was able to capture that 1940's wartime newsreel vibe, crafting a film that fit the era. Now, with The Russo Brothers, it feels like they've done the same thing for the modern-day Cap, which really capitalizes on the "man out of time" theme and thrusts the character deep into the modern world. I think when viewed side-by-side, both the first film and the latest entry will be looked at as great compliments to one another. I look forward to popping both in my blu-ray player later this year and seeing for myself.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Anthony Mackie, Robert Redford, Frank Grillo, Cobie Smulders, Georges St-Pierre, Emily VanCamp, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Michelle Yeoh, Emily VanCamp, and Garry Shandling hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
