Everytime I see a preview on TV, or the trailer here on the internet, for the new slasher film to hit theaters Friday, I find myself cursing. Why? Because not only does CRY_WOLF look like a fun ride, it also actually looks pretty damn good. So why the cursing?
Besides finding joy in using the ‘f’ word on a regular basis, I curse because this flick’s PG-13 …ahem… an originally slated R-rated flick chopped down to PG-13 for the simple reason to fill more money in the bank (or at least try to).
Which pains me, because when I see the cool as shit 2 minute clip over at MovieFone, my heart starts beating fast, and I think of all the joy I’m gonna have watching this… except for the fact that it’s PG-13.
Which really doesn’t any sense when you think about it. It seems the studios are waiting for the next horror boom since SCREAM in the late 90s… and all those movies, SCREAM, it’s sequels, I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, etc…, were all rated R! And they all made bank! So what’s the dealio? Why bastardize us in the 2000s?
I know. Preaching to the choir. Sorry. Check the clip out though yo, it’s f*ckin’ cool. And look out for the WOLF in theaters this Friday (er… today….).
