The currently filming CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER has given us some decent peeks of various players so far, but we have yet to get a glimpse of the titular character of The Winter Soldier. And, well, we still don't, but in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, which has a feature on IRON MAN 3, there are some new details and a sweet piece of concept art that features ol' Bucky Barnes in full regalia. We've seen a few pieces of such art thus far (included below) and aside from the facemask, which I'm assuming is meant to hide Barnes identity from the unsuspecting (which is kind of moot, really, since most non-comic folks still won't recognize him when revealed), the character is looking pretty consistent with his comic persona.

In addition to the art, the article has a quote from Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige, who drops some details on their approach to Captain America for the sequel and what his dilemma will be, saying:
“We weren't going back to World War II. Cap cannot travel in time. So while Tony can go home to Malibu and Thor goes up to Asgard and Hulk can sort of ride the rails, Cap was stuck. So Cap does stay with S.H.I.E.L.D. because he has nowhere else to go. But he's not necessarily comfortable there. And just as he's given permission to let go of the past and to focus on the modern world, a ghost comes up. With the Greatest Generation in World World II, there's a tendency to reflect on that period and say, 'Things were black and white back then, and now it's hard to know who the bad guys are.' 'We wanted to play on that a little wit Cap being uncomfortable with the way S.H.I.E.L.D., and in particular Nick Fury, operates.”
Awesome stuff. I can't wait to see The Winter Soldier in action as he is one of my favorite Marvel characters in the comics and I'm pleased as punch that they pursued this storyline for the sequel. It's a bold, smart choice and my fingers are crossed that it will live up to the hype. I think, if anything, this will be more accessible to non comic fans, as it's not a WWII fable, but a contemporary action thriller. We'll see.
