One of 2014's summer releases we are really excited about here at AITH is Doug Liman's time-traveling sci-fi flick EDGE OF TOMORROW, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. We've got two new stills to take a look at today, one of which features Cruise decked out in his badass armor. The other image gives us a look at at Emily Blunt's character, Rita Vrataski, who looks to have ditched the armor—not complaining!

In a recent interview with USA Today, Cruise talks about the suit he wears in the film and how it kicked his ass. "One of the suits with the angel wings had a sniper rifle and missile launcher on my back and weighed about 130 pounds. I’m having to sprint in it,” says Cruise, who helped develop the suits. “It’s physically grueling." Here's the hefty synopsis:

The epic action of Edge of Tomorrow unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Tom Cruise stars along with Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong, Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, Dragomir Mrsic, Charlotte Riley, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste. The screenplay was written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie, and Joby Harold. The film is expected to open in theaters on June 6, 2014.
