Like many of you, I can’t wait to check out David Arquette’s hippie-slasher flick THE TRIPPER, starring Thomas Jane and Pee Wee Herman (just to name a few). So when I heard the news that we’ll be seeing sooner than originally planned, well gee-golly! I just got all warm and tingly inside.
Freestyle Releasing announced today that THE TRIPPER’s release date has been bumped up from its original June 20th slot to the more appropriate April 20th. Yes folks, the movie about a bunch of fun-loving hippies at a concert, smokin’ weed, dropping acid… and getting picked off one by one by a Republican mass murder is seeing the light of day on 4/20 of this year. I f*cking love that shit. Coincidence? I think not.
Also up for a change is their AFTERDARK HORRORFEST II, which was looking to be released in October, and now has landed a November 9th slot. The first HORRORFEST was release in November, so maybe they’re seeing it as a good omen to release it at that time again…
Of course, these dates will probably change, as they’ve already been kicked around more times than a pumpkin on Halloween, but they’d be stupid to change the release for THE TRIPPER, due to its all-too appropriate nature. We’ll see.
