New green band trailer for God Bless America from Bobcat Goldthwait

We’ve already seen the red-band trailer for Bobcat Goldthwait’s upcoming GOD BLESS AMERICA, which looked pretty good in all its dark humor glory.  Now, we have a green-band trailer that is no less dark and funny, just with less F-bombs.

The film stars Joel Murray (brother of Bill) and Tara Lynn Barr as an unlikely duo who set out to rid the Country of all they deem reprehensible for its downfall.

Take a look:

Here’s the synopsis:

Loveless, jobless, possibly terminally ill, Frank has had enough of the downward spiral of America. With nothing left to lose, Frank takes his gun and offs the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society. He finds an unusual accomplice: 16-year-old Roxy, who shares his sense of rage and disenfranchisement.

Goldthwait has always leaned toward this type of dark, satirical humor (SHAKES THE CLOWN and the severely underrated WORLD’S GREATEST DAD) and this looks to deliver more of his signature style.  I’m looking forward to seeing how this one plays out, especially if it involves killing off some of the more detestable pop culture icons.  If nothing else, this should be a lot of fun.

Check out our review from its TIFF premiere last year.

GOD BLESS AMERICA will be available on iTunes on April 6th, 2012 and opens in theaters on May 11th, 2012.  What out Avengers, you’ve got some competition!
