While the current title of the next chapter in the tale of Hannibal Lecter has been known as YOUNG HANNIBAL, there’s reports that the book version, to be in stores this holiday season, is titled HANNIBAL RISING… could this be the new title for the film as well?
According to Reuters, the plot of the new novel, written by Thomas Harris, is pretty much the same: In “Hannibal Rising” readers learn about Lecter’s early life in Eastern Europe from age 6 to 20, following the death of his entire family during World War Two. Sounds the same to me! And as Harris also wrote the screenplay… well, I’m no Sherlock Holmes, but it’s my guess that the film version will sport the same title.
And to tell you the truth, I couldn’t be happier! Seriously, YOUNG HANNIBAL? Pretty lame title- and while HANNIBAL RISING isn’t all that much better, it makes me think of DEEP RISING, and I frickin’ love that movie! Treat Williams is da bomb!
Anyway, be sure to check out HANNIBAL RISING, which hits bookstores December 5th, and watch for the film version to hit theaters February 9th, 2007.
