Well, I never would have expected it – not in a million years – but M. Night Shyamalan’s THE HAPPENING is rocketing to the top of my “must-see” list for this summer. Hell, for the year… We all know the man’s had an incredibly mixed track-record, but everything I see from “The Haps” indicates that he finally heard the call for him to stop f*cking about with melodramatic fairy-tale bullshit and get to scaring people again. Remember when this dude was being compared to Hitchcock and Spielberg? Seems like… well, 9 years ago (when THE SIXTH SENSE came out – and btw, f*ck you, SIXTH SENSE, for being nine years old…)
Anyway, MSN has the new trailer for THE HAPPENING and yes, we’re still in the dark as to what is happening – but it looks like a serious nightmare. The good kind.
The flick stars Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel and John Leguizamo, and will smack us upside the head on June 13th. Keep those fingers crossed that ol’ Night has fought the urge to make us weepy.
