Some new images and the trailer from the upcoming Ron Howard drama IN THE HEART OF THE SEA have just set sail! The film is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's non-fiction novel, and is about the sinking of the whaleship Essex, an event that inspired Herman Melville to write Moby-Dick. IN THE HEART OF THE SEA has great cast that includes Chris Hemsworth, Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson, Benjamin Walker and Ben Whishaw.
Besides Chris Hemsworth looking pretty pissed off in his picture from USA Today, the new images give us a glimpse at the sperm whale that sank the Essex, and there's also a BTS photo with Ron Howard.

Synopsis:
In 1820, the whaleship Essex is crewed by Captain George Pollard, Jr. (Walker), first mate Owen Chase ( Hemsworth), second mate Matthew Joy (Murphy), and cabin boy Thomas Nickerson (Tom Holland). During their voyage, the ship is struck by a large bull sperm whale, ultimately leaving its crew shipwrecked at sea for 90 days over a thousand miles from home.
USA Today also spoke with Ron Howard, and he says IN THE HEART OF THE SEA won't just be whale vs humans action.
It has a lot of action in it, and that's vitally important. But it's also dependent on rich characters and nuanced emotional performances, and those are all aspects of the movie we're also dealing with under great physical duress.
I think Ron Howard is at his best when he's dealing with real-life situations and people for his movies, and I'm definitely interested in checking out IN THE HEART OF THE SEA. Very curious to see how Howard handles the whale attack on the Essex.
IN THE HEART OF THE SEA is set to be released on March 15, 2015.
