New Jupiter Ascending trailer is a vast improvement over the first one

The Wachowskis were set to release their latest epic science fiction film this past summer, but things went awry when EDGE OF TOMORROW bombed at the box office. Citing unfinished special effects and other factors, the film abandoned it's prime July date for a February one next year. Maybe it was for the best as most felt very underwhelmed by the first trailer.

As we enter the final months of 2014, a new trailer has been released for JUPITER ASCENDING and it is heads and tails better than the previous one. I don't know if it is the editing or the finished special effects, but this new trailer looks pretty damn spectacular. For an original story not based on any novels or comic books, JUPITER ASCENDING has to pack an elaborate back story about feuding siblings, royal lines, and multiple alien races into what will likely be a two or two and a half hour running time.

In a universe where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder, a young destitute human woman is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen's reign.

There is definitely a JOHN CARTER meets DUNE vibe going on here, but Warner Bros may not like the comparison to two box office bombs. Still, Channing Tatum somehow seems better here than in the first trailer and Mila Kunis looks a little more involved. Eddie Redmayne has the makings of a very memorable villain (someone make him the next Joker!) and Sean Bean is his typical badass self.

JUPITER ASCENDING won't have much going against it when it opens February 6, 2015 so this may definitely be worth the price of admission.
