Remember how cool and exciting it was to hear that Henry Lee Hopper, Dennis Hopper’s son, was going to make his theatrical debut in Wes Craven’s 25/8 as the lead character the whole movie revolves around (click HERE to refresh your memory)? Well, that’s all changed now, as Hopper is off the project, to be replaced by Max Thieriot (JUMPER). Why the sudden switcheroo of leads so close to filming? Easy: mono. Hopper got a bad case of mono, and had to drop out. Bummer!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, no hard feelings were between Hopper and Craven, but when you have mono, you can’t do fun things like make movies with big-time horror directors. You just can’t do it. So Thieriot is the new lead, with Nick Lashaway, John Magaro, and Paulina Olszynski also joining the cast. Raul Esparza is currently in talks to play the killer, though he hasn’t ‘officially’ signed on to the deal.

As a brief recap, 25/8 is about seven teens haunted by a killer who supposedly died when they were born, and features a cast of relative unknowns, so that the audience won’t be able to tell (from the beginning) who’s going to live, and who’s going to die!!!

Filming begins later this month in Connecticut, so stick around for more of what Craven does best (slashers) with 25/8 as we hear it!
