Joseph Kosinski’s OBLIVION is on the verge of releasing a brand new trailer – in fact, it’ll pop up tomorrow – so to help get you ready for the sci-fi epic, MSN has dished out a fresh image of Tom Cruise wielding a gun in a futuristic wasteland. Perhaps not the most exciting pic we’ve ever been presented with, but we’re probably still a few weeks away from seeing some real juicy material from the flick, which seems to boast some intriguing twists and turns. (And a trailer wouldn’t lie to us, would it?)

Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack’s mission is nearly complete. Living in and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

OBLIVION hits IMAX on April 12th and goes wide on April 19th. Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Melissa Leo and Nicolaj Coster-Waldau co-star alongside Cruise.
