It’s been months since we’ve reported on anything regarding the film adaptation of Clive Barker’s DREAD which kinda sucks because I think the flick looks really cool. Well, at least today the suckiness can stop! The folks over at Dread Central scored a brand new image from the film (up top). That’s one creeped-out shot of star Shaun Evans, looking like he’s got one big-ass axe to grind.
The sweet spin of a plot goes something like this: Quaid, a student of philosophy, who is obsessed by his own nightmare of an axe-murdering clown so he concocts a series of experiments to observe firsthand how other people react to the things that most horrify them. But while Quaid slowly unpeels the psyches of his imprisoned and tortured captives like a reeking onion, his own dread waits, just beyond his control.
Evans plays Quaid who shares my nightmare of an axe-murdering clown. The rest of the cast includes Jackson Rathbone, Hanne Steen, Jonathan Readwin, and Laura Donnelly. DREAD was written and directed by Anthony DiBlasi and we still don’t have a set release date other than 2009.
