[REC 2] is a flick we’ve literally been tracking for years. During the protracted wait, we’ve not only seen an American remake of its predecessor (QUARANTINE) come and go, we heard the announcement of QUARANTINE 2 before getting the chance to see [REC 2] here in the states. The question, as ridiculous as it sounds, was this: would we see the sequel to the remake BEFORE we saw the sequel to the original?
Now that I’ve confused the hell out of you, I’ll answer with a resounding NO! Not only does [REC 2] hit U.S. theaters this July, we’ve got a brand new red-band trailer for the flick below to tide us over!
From directors Jaume Balaguero and Paco Plaza, the action in [REC 2] literally picks up where it ended in the last film, with the medical officer and a SWAT team outfitted with video cameras are sent into the sealed off apartment to control the outbreak of rabid, foaming zombie-creatures.
Manuela Velasco stars, doing so alongside Ferran Terraza, Javier Botat, Pablo Rosso, Jonathan Mellor, Alex Batllori, Claudia Silva, Andrea Ros, Nico Baixas, Ariel Casas, Martha Caronell and Ana Isabel Velasquez.
Plaza and Balaguero wrote the script with Manu Diez (THE NUN, THE LAST OF THE JUST).
