I’m a considerable fan of the Mamet (particularly the underappreciated SPARTAN), but I skipped the first REDBELT trailer when I was told it was basically a condensed version of the movie. I hope this one is a little less revealing of such detail — it certainly downplays the fighting that is possibly the eventual focus of the film.
Mamet’s flick collects some of his cohorts (Joe Mantegna, Max Martini and the great Ricky Jay) and presents Chiwetel Ejiofor as a down-on-his-luck martial arts instructor who begins to question pursuing a code of honor instead of punching for cash and prizes. Emily Mortimer, Alice Braga, Tim Allen, Randy Couture (with some pretty decent trailer placement) and Rodrigo Santoro also star.
