New Release Dates

I don’t know what it is, but there’s a whole slew of date changes today when it comes to the horror, and they’re for some flicks I’m sure you all have on your radar. Not that this is a strange occurrence or anything like that, studios change dates all the time, it just means we have to start mentally preparing ourselves to catch these flicks a little later than we had originally thought.


First up, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s GRIND HOUSE has been pushed back 4 months, from a December 1st release to a new and slightly less improved April 6th release. This isn’t really surprising, considering all the bad press of production delays on the set of RR’s ‘Project Terror’, but it’s somewhat of a bummer because it looked like it was really gonna spice up the holiday season. Oh well. April’s a good release month, and it’ll most likely have that weekend all to itself.

Next change goes to the crocodile on mutated acid flick ROGUE, from director Greg McLean (WOLF CREEK), which originally had a Christmas 2006 release slot. Looks like this one’s following GRIND HOUSE’s lead, as it goes from the holiday season to some time later- in this case, it’s February 2nd. Now, February- not usually a month that’s given any love, so I hope it’s not an early sign that ROGUE is gonna suck. Because it sure sounds cool, but I suppose we’ll just have to wait longer to see.


And finally, not so much as a change, but as an announcement- the John Cusack, Samuel L. Jackson Stephen King adaptation 1408 has been given the May 18th, 2007 weekend. Nice! Nothing says summer blockbuster fun like a mid-May release! Let’s just hope this date holds.


And that’s about it when it comes to date changes for now. Not total bummers, but it surely clears this holiday season of some potentially awesome horror flicks. Well, at least 2007 is looking bright!
