For those of you who were sad to see STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS go, you might be happy to know that another animated series has already started production.

Set to premiere on Disney XD in Fall of 2014, STAR WARS REBELS is set between episodes III and IV, also known as “the dark times”. During this gap, which has never been seen on-screen, “the Empire is fortifying its hold on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion is taking shape.” However certain plot details are being kept under wraps. The look will be inspired by the work of conceptual designer and illustrator Ralph McQuarrie, who designed the look of the original trilogy. On the crew for the show they have Dave Filoni (supervising director of Clone Wars) and Greg Weisman (Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man. Can I throw in that Weisman created 1994s GARGOYLES? You know you watched that. It’s kind of a big deal.

Simon Kinberg (SHERLOCK HOLMES, X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) will serve as executive producer, and is set to write the first episode.

The official YouTube page for all things STAR WARS uploaded a video that has a one on one with executive producer Dave Filoni. Check that out below.
