Earlier this month I hit you all with a few stills from Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming supernatural thriller BLACK SWAN. You guys remember that shite? It came right before Chris Bumbray’s glowing review of the film. A 9 out of 10? Hot damn! If you weren’t stoked for BLACK SWAN yet you damn well should be now!
Now that my excitement is back down to a reasonable level allow me to tell you all about today’s update. While it isn’t too exciting we are treated to a brand new still from the film featuring star Natalie Portman all red-eyed and stuff. I’m not talking about the good red-eye either. I’m talking straight demonic-something-f*cked-up-is-going-on red-eyed. Oh yeah! Check that shite out for yourself directly below!
BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica who zealously supports her daughter’s professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice.
But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily, who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.
BLACK SWAN stars Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis Vincent Cassel, Barbara Hershey, Winona Ryder, Janet Montgomery, Christopher Gartin, Sebastian Stan, Kristina Anapau and Toby Hemingway. It hits theaters on December 1st!
