Seth MacFarlane says he’s toying with the idea of making a Ted live-action movie for Peacock

Is the world ready for more Ted? The lovable, cuddly, and crude character from the imagination of Seth MacFarlane is more popular than ever, thanks to Peacock’s Ted TV series, and now, MacFarlane says another film starring the pot-smoking sentient stuffed bear could be on the way.

During a recent Deadline Contenders TV panel, MacFarlane said he’s toying with the idea of making another Ted movie at Peacock. To be clear, this project would be in addition to a possible third season of the TV series, plus the upcoming animated series that’s also in the works.

MacFarlane on the Possibility of a Ted Movie at Peacock

“It really is up to Peacock with their, you know, vast amounts of big Scrooge McDuck money that they dive into every day,” said MacFarlane, who has said in the past that he’s unsure Peacock will want to fund another season of the series. “I think all of us, in some form or another, whether it’s a Season 3 of Ted or a direct-to-Peacock feature with this cast, is something I think we’d all be up for. It’s all on the table.”

An Update About the Ted Animated Series

In addition to teasing the possibility of another Ted movie, MacFarlane finally shared new details about the upcoming Ted animated series:

“It’s only fitting that it all comes back around to the animated show, the first season of which is getting close to completion as far as the production cycle,” MacFarlane said of the new iteration from executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh. “It takes place after the events of the last movie. So it’s Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth … all the folks from the original films. And it’s really funny. They’ve just done a phenomenal job. It’s joyful, at this point in my career, to get something off the ground and then watch it take shape under different stewardship. Brad and Paul have turned this thing into something that is fun for me to watch.”

Per Nielsen, the second season of Ted racked up 1.2 billion minutes viewed since its March launch, becoming the top-rated original comedy title across all streamers during that timeframe. While other projects, like Peacock’s Clueless sequel series starring Alicia Silverstone, won’t move forward, Ted continues to endure. Wild.
