New TMNT writer

JoBloJoBlo

Color-coded half-shell heroes Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael are returning in the amphibious flesh to once again battle the Foot Clan in a new live-action TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, and their exploits now have a writer.

John Fusco will dredge the sewers (hey, they live there!) for a new tale featuring the pets turned toxic ooze-irradiated humanoid heroes. The project is planned as an origin story.

Fusco has experience with assembling sundry characters — he wrote both YOUNG GUNS movies, and has been working on an update of Kurosawa’s classic SEVEN SAMURAI. He also has some other useful and applicable skills — he’s a longtime martial arts practitioner. He also wrote THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM, but I’m not sure if that helps.

The TMNT’s 25th anniversary (dubbed “Shell-ebration”, ahem) concludes this week at Comic Con.
