New trailer for The Watch shows guns, aliens, green goo, and frickin’ laser beams

JoBloJoBlo

A new trailer for THE WATCH has invaded the net, featuring the comic stylings of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, and Richard Ayoade.  Directed by Akiva Schaffer (HOT ROD), the film follows a group of guys in a neighborhood watch program who catch wind of an alien invasion and take action to stop it.

The trailer doesn’t pull any punches in terms of keeping the aliens in question a mystery, letting us know that this is purely a comedy, not a sci-fi adventure, which I’m totally down for.

Get zapped:

The looks much more promising than the initial teaser and although I enjoyed the red-band trailer, it didn’t exactly sell me.  The scene with Stiller and Vaughn shooting the alien repeatedly was pretty damn funny and this looks like it will just be a good time with some familiar comics doing their thing.  I’m not expecting anything more, so hopefully that’ll be enough to deliver the goods.

THE WATCH opens on July 27, 2012.
