New trailer unleashed for Skyman from co-director of The Blair Witch Project

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It cannot be stressed how huge THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was when it first hit theaters. It made history as being one of the most successful films ever made, in terms of budget vs. box-office (about $200 million worldwide on a $60,000 budget), as well as the source of parodies and spoofs years after its initial release (including an official SCOOBY-DOO one that aired on Cartoon Network!) So it's a wonder none of the creatives behind it made as big of a splash ever again – though almost all have kept some sort of career in the industry. But maybe that'll change with the upcoming sci-fi found footage film SKYMAN, directed Daniel Myrick – one of the co-directors of THE BLAIR WITCH. You can see the trailer for yourself at the top of the article.

Here's the official synopsis:

In 1987, just days after his 10th birthday, Carl Merryweather rocked the local news community when he claimed he was visited by an extraterrestrial life form. Despite other alleged sightings reported that same evening, skeptical authorities shrugged off the claims. Now, almost three obsessive decades later, Carl is set on a mission to reunite with the being he calls ‘the Skyman’ to not only prove the skeptics wrong but to ultimately find his own true sense of purpose. Through first-hand home videos interwoven with news footage and interviews, Skyman is a bold and compelling study of the fascinating and unquestioning world of UFO subculture.

Meanwhile SKYMAN – starring Michael Selle, Nicolette Sweeney, and Faleolo Alailima, with music composed by Don Miggs and Billy Corgan (!) – will be opening in drive-in theaters June 30th, then available On Demand July 7th.

But what do you guys think? Fans of the original BLAIR WITCH PROJECT? If so, will check this one out as well? Either way, sound off below!
