I'm starting to warm up to GETAWAY, the car chase actioner starring Ethan Hawke and…Selena Gomez. It's the oddest pairing you would never expect, but I can't deny that it looks like a harmless good time. This new TV spot and featurette help to back that up and it seems like they've put something together that is meant to be, pardon the pun, a fun ride. I can certainly dig that and I give props to Hawke for not taking himself so seriously and having fun with his work. I'm a big fan of his work and would like to see more TRAINING DAY level roles for him, but I'll take the in-between stuff like GETAWAY and THE PURGE in the meantime.

Here's the synopsis:
Brent Magna must get behind the wheel and follow the orders of a mysterious man to save his kidnapped wife.
Again, this could be a lot of fun or a waste of time, but with Hawke's presence and the no-brainer aspect this could potentially be a solid late summer sleeper. I don't think anyone is expecting much and that could really work in its favor. Either way, I'm game to give it a shot.
