The current exorcism craze sweeping through our genre is set to continue with Mikael Håfström’s THE RITE, which is starring the great Anthony Hopkins. Obviously that’s the film’s biggest selling point and rightfully so… The Hop doing a bit of exorcisng? I’m down! Chances are you are too.
Earlier this month we gave you all a look at the newest poster for the film and here we are today with a look at the first couple stills from THE RITE! Natch! While nothing too exciting is happening here it is nice to see Anthony Hopkins looking all … priestly? Scope out the stills for yourself above and below.
THE RITE centers on a disillusioned American seminary student who attends exorcism school at the Vatican and ultimately finds his faith through encounters with demonic forces. Hopkins will play a priest who is an expert in exorcisms and whose methods are not necessarily traditional.
Along with Hopkins the film also stars Alice Braga, Ciaran Hinds, Rutger Hauer, Torrey DeVitto, Chris Marquette, Toby Jones, Maria Grazia Cucinotta (below) and Colin O’Donoghue. THE RITE is set to be released January 28, 2011 so get ready for that!
