Well, it looks like we may have a new horror movie remake looking to challenge Rob Zombie’s H2 for most number of news posts per day. Just this afternoon, my man, Eric let us know that Jackie Earl Haley was in final negotiations to take on the role of Freddy Kruger in the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake from Platinum Dunes. First off, I just have to say that Mr. Haley is a fantastic choice. He delivered a Ledger-style performance in WATCHMEN (plus, he’s also great at doing a raspy voice).
Now, just a couple of hours later, we have word that Kyle Gallner of THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT (up top with Virginia Madsen) is in final talks play “Quentin”, the podcast host and Johnny Depp character. I haven’t seen HAUNTING IN CT (don’t want to), but The Arrow did say in his review that Gallner did a good job. So I believe he must be a good choice.
I really get the feeling that this is just the beginning of a huge onslaught of new NIGHTMARE-related news about to burst forth from the boiler room. With Haley now most likely being the one to don the glove and striped sweater, I am very excited to track this ELM STREET as it drives toward its April 16, 2010 release date.
