Nick Frost stars as a farting Frankenstein in CG monstrosity Monster Family

So…I don’t know what this is. At first I thought it was a cheap, knock-off British version of HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA or THE MUNSTERS. Instead – for some convoluted reason – it’s about a witch that turns a regular family into monsters, and them trying to reverse the effects. Which, admittedly, is more original…if not necessarily better. And it still doesn’t stop it from being a pale imitation of those two (even though neither HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA or THE MUNSTERS were that great to begin with).

What really bogs it down, it seems, is an over reliance on fart and gross-out out humor (such as those Minion-wannabe rat things literally eating ear wax). And don’t get me wrong, I can love me some fart jokes – I just abhore lazy fart jokes.
