The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Animal Logic has snagged the big-screen rights to IDW Publishing’s NIGHT MARY, a mystery/horror graphic novel from creators Rick Remender and Kieron Dwyer.
I’m going to just assume that no one knows what this puppy is about, so here’s the brief synopsis: the story follows teenager Mary Specter, a lucid dreamer who enters the nightmares of disturbed patients at her father’s sleep disorder clinic to try and help them. When one patient turns out to be a serial killer, nightmare and waking reality blend in dangerous ways.
Whoa, that shit sounds crazy, yo! Little Mary is like a friendly Freddy Kruegar, where she’s trying to help people in their nightmare while he’s trying to kill them. I wonder what would happen if those two met in the same dream. Hmmmm…
No other details have been revealed other than the deal went down. I think the concept sounds pretty cool and sounds fresh enough to be quite entertaining. Let’s hope they don’t leave it on the shelf for too long. Stick around for more NIGHT MARY as we hear it!
Speaking of Mary… the lovely Mary Castro!
