Night Shift: Phoebe Tonkin experiences horrific events at a remote motel

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Best known for playing the character Hayley on eight episodes of The Vampire Diaries and eighty-six episodes of the spin-off series The Originals, Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin has signed on to star in Night Shift, a horror film that serves as the feature debut of directors Paul and Benjamin China.

Tonkin is taking on the role of

a young woman working her first night shift at a remote motel as she begins to suspect that she is being followed by a dangerous character from her past. As the night progresses and supernatural events occur, she quickly finds out that nothing is what it appears to be.

She's joined in the cast by Lamorne Morris, Madison Hu, Patrick Fischler, Lauren Bowles, and Christopher Denham.

A Defiant Studios production, Night Shift is being produced by Eric B. Fleischman, Maurice Fadida, John Hodges, Bradley Pilz, and Dennis Rainaldi. Jan McAdoo, Sylvain Gehler, Victor Shapiro, and Raphael Swann serve as executive producers with financier Kodiak Pictures.

Filming is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles this spring.

The synopsis for this makes me think of the recently released Open 24 Hours, which took place at a gas station rather than a motel. I'm sure it will turn out to be quite different, the set-up just immediately brought that to mind.
