Nikki Reed & Jake Hoffman star in psychological “dubstep” thriller Snap

Small world. My roommate just told me of how he did a track with a stunning new actress/rapper out of New York named Gina Rodriguez, whose new movie FILLY BROWN was screening at Sundance this month. 24 hours later word drops that the makers of FILLY BROWN are headed for our twisted alcove of cinema…doing so in a new psychological thriller called SNAP. Peep it…

Word comes from Deadline, citing FILLY BROWN producer Victor Teran as the writer of SNAP, which he’ll co-helm with FILLY director Youssef Delara. Jake Hoffman (Dustin’s son, right) and Nikki Reed (below) will star in the flick set in the underground world of “dubstep” music.

More specifically:

Jake Hoffman (seen right) will play a brilliant but painfully introverted musician who develops a crush on a young social worker. Twilight Saga‘s Nikki Reed will play that role. While she is initially drawn in by Jim’s musical genius, his inner demons spiral out of control when the romance fizzles, with shocking and tragic results.

Could be cool given the setting. Not like I’m a huge dubstep fan, but if the filmmakers can create a world unto itself, a la BLACK SWAN, it could make for a refreshing change if nothing else.  What says you?

The plan is to have SNAP ready for the 2013 Sundance Film Fest.  Keep it close for all the updates until then…
