No Scream for Gunn

I love me some good ol’ Reality TV. Call it a guilty pleasure, or just an entertaining way to destroy brain cells for a few hours, there’s something about them damn shows that make it so you can’t help but watch.

So thank Zeus for VH1’s SCREAM QUEENS, a reality TV show with contestants battling it out to become the next big ‘Scream Queen’ in horror. The first season was a success, and season two is hoping to do with same… but they’re gonna have to do with without judge and established horror director James Gunn.

As explained by his official blog, Timing is everything. And in this instance, timing sucks. My movie Super has been greenlit and is about to go into production at the exact same time season two of my VH1 reality show Scream Queens is going into production. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to choose one or the other, and my actual film career must come before my reality show film career.

While it’s a bummer that he won’t be returning for a second round, he does say he’ll be back for round three (assuming there will be one), and maybe most importantly, it’s awesome to hear SUPER has been greenlit. We need another Gunn movie! SLITHER was da bomb–give us more, yo!

While word on his replacement hasn’t been officially announced, Gunn teases it’s a person very capable of the job. Damn straight. Check out Gunn’s full blog post HERE, and get ready for another season of SCREAM QUEENS on VH1, set to hit sometime early next year.

Winner of Scream Queens (Season 1) Tanedra Howard!
