Nosferatu’s Coming

We knew it was coming when the credits of BUBBA HO-TEP rolled, and we were promised a sequel entitled BUBBA NOSFERATU: THE CURSE OF THE SHE-VAMPIRE. What we didn’t know was that it was joke, there wasn’t any plans of a sequel… until now.

Sci-Fi Wire talked with director Don Coscarelli, who hopes to start shooting BUBBA NOSFERATU later this year. They’ve been against many barriers since HO-TEP wowed audiences everywhere, including the death of star Ossie Davis and the selling of MGM, who owned the rights to the film’s title. No fear though, the project’s now back on track.

“People seem to want it. We just have to get it finished. The whole idea of Bubba Nosferatu was a joke.” I love when projects start out as jokes, then are lifted off the ground and made because while they might have been joking, it doesn’t mean it was a bad idea. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for Bruce Campbell to bust out those sideburns again and kick vampire ass… as Elvis!

On top of all that, Bloody-Disgusting got un-official word from a scooper that Paul “I’m not drinkin’ f*ckin’ Merlot” Giamatti is in talks to co-star with Campbell as Colonial Parker, Elvis’ true life manager. We’ll see where that pans out, but I love the casting choice if that’s true- Giamatti is made for roles like that!
