Way back in April we told you about the possibility of a LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS remake from WRONG TURN 3 director Declan O’Brien (check that out right HERE). Some of you may have thought the project was dead in the water since it’s been so long, but according to O’Brien via a chat with Fangoria, the project is still moving right along…

I’ve done a deal with him for the rights to LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, and the remake is in progress right now. I’m basically going to do it as a horror film, which is going to upset a ton of people who loved the musical—and that’s what made Roger excited. He was like, ‘You’re really going to piss them off,’ but he liked the take—he thought it was very, very smart. We’re trying to find financing for it now.

And you know what? I can dig this new take, yo! I’m not a huge fan of musicals, and I like the basic story behind this dude who keeps a man-eating plant as a pet or whatnot. It could turn out really good and really scary if done right, and honestly… I can’t see a ton of people being pissed about doing it this way. At least it’s a new take, and not just another straight-up remake!
