Making films is hard, making low to no budget films that
actually turn out to be good freaking stuff is much, much harder.

Well Director D.W. Kann of
Darkside Films
was put to that task when he tackled the Horror/Comedy,
Anubis: Guardian of the Dead,
now known as
Ancient Evil 2: Guardian of the Underworld
(yup a sequel in name only…gotta love them Distributors). This peeved Mummy
killing teens opus will be hitting
the DVD shelves on April 5th 2005.

Time will tell if Kann succeeded in making his Mummy movie, Mummy-Up for all of
us but till then, see the film’s trailer

here
and check out the Synopsis
below.

Synopsis:
Oncilla
(Noel Francomano), an amateur witch, purchases a spell book on eBay and a small
hollowed out statue from a curio shop owner (Elza Minor) that holds the “sacred
sands” that will help resurrect, “The great God of the dead, Anubis.” She is
joined by her boyfriend Mark (Alex Whall) and his sidekick Wheezer (Adam Lipsky).

The three
convince their close friends Paul (Christopher Kann) and Paul’s prudish
girlfriend, Jennifer (Victoria Campbell) to visit a pyre deep within the forest
where a sadistic ritual had once taken place. This is where they accidentally
discover just how dangerously powerful Oncilla’s paranormal paraphernalia
actually is.
